Les officiels Gabonais et la famille Bory à l'Ambassade du Gabon en France.
C’est une bonne nouvelle pour le Gabon qui a récemment perdu un procès en France portant sur la restitution des œuvres d’art. L’ex président directeur général de la Sonapresse, Paul Bory a procédé, à titre personnel, à la restitution au Gabon de 90 œuvres d’art. Ces œuvres d’art ont jusqu’ici fait parti de sa collection personnelle.
Au cours d’une cérémonie organisée le 29 janvier dernier à l’ambassade du Gabon en France, le ministre du Tourisme, Pascal Ogowe Siffon aux côtés de son collègue de la Culture, André-Jacques Augang a signé la convention de donation de la collection « Françoise Aubrun et Paul Bory ».
C’est près de quatre-vingt-dix œuvres d’art qui ont été restituées par l’ancien Président Directeur Général de la SONAPRESSE et sa défunte compagne à l’État gabonais dans le cadre de la Restitution des objets d’art à leur pays d’origine. On retrouve, entre autres, dans ces œuvres d’art, des statues Tsogho, des masques Fang, Téké, Punu, Myéné…
« Ce retour des biens culturels sur leur terre d’origine marque une étape importante dans les efforts du Gabon, à se réapproprier son histoire, à récupérer, protéger et préserver ses trésors patrimoniaux détenus hors de ses frontières. Cette dotation est un précieux legs d’une valeur inestimable pour les générations présentes et futures, qui pourront puiser dans cette collection des connaissances, inspirations et une fierté nationale renouvelée » a indiqué le ministre de la Culture.
